It is with great sadness that we share the news of the sudden and untimely passing of our beloved former colleague and dear friend, John Garlock. We deeply mourn the loss of an exceptional individual who touched the lives of so many at In STEPPS. 

John was not only a remarkable clinician but also a cherished member of our close-knit ABA community. His positivity and exceptional talent brightened our days and inspired us. John had an incredible passion for our field and truly loved the children and families he served. John had a genuine kindness that made him unforgettable. John started as a therapist with In STEPPS in 2010 and set his sights early on becoming the best therapist and supervisor he could be. He constantly asked for feedback and professional growth opportunities. No one had more creative ideas, silly suggestions, crazy dances, and a bigger heart. He made a long-lasting impact on each and every one he worked with, both staff and families.  

Beyond his professional accomplishments, John was a devoted husband to Lindsay and loving father to Gordon (8), Avril (6), Olson (3), and Rosie (1). He always spoke of his family with immense pride and love as they were a constant source of strength and joy for him. Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to his wife and children during this incredibly difficult time.

In STEPPS will be organizing a memorial gathering on Friday, July 14th at noon to celebrate John’s life and share our memories. Details will be shared soon. We encourage all who knew him to come together to honor his memory and support one another through this profound loss.  

We are grateful for the memories we shared with John. His unwavering dedication to those he loved and served, and infectious enthusiasm will continue to resonate within our hearts. Let us remember and honor John’s remarkable spirit, the impact he made on our lives, and the legacy he leaves behind.  May we carry his memory in our hearts forever.
